The Best Nerf Gun Pistol From Each Category
The best Nerf gun pistol to own is going to be a fun topic to discuss. Everyone seems to have their own take on the matter and what’s good for some may not be good for others. So we find ourselves locked into a debate that teeters somewhere between situational performance and personal preference in regards to gun features. Two key areas that will most certainly surface from time to time throughout our discussion.
What’s interesting about Nerf handguns is they can cover such a wide range of combat situations. Typically when you think of a pistol what comes to mind is something that’s used primarily as a backup. Perhaps a small sidearm that’s tucked away and can be drawn fast when you’re in a pinch. All of these are valid features but fall short of the bigger picture that I believe ties into the experience.
THE BEST NERF GUN PISTOLS REQUIRE GOOD TECHNICAL SKILLS
As you start to develop those technical skills it becomes much clearer that a handgun can be just as effective in a primary role. Moreover, I would argue that in some situations a Nerf gun pistol would be the best option.
Additionally, as we dig into this article you will see that each of these Nerf pistols excel when the environment compliments their strengths. Combat situations have a way of bringing out the best in what they have to offer. However, it’s also important to consider the value of the experience.
Let’s explore some options and see where this discussion takes us.
THE BEST NERF GUN PISTOL TO RELOAD
I know, I know. How dare you start this whole thing off with an Ultra Nerf gun, but hear me out. Yes, the gun has its issue and for that matter, so does the series as a whole but that shouldn’t dilute a good thing when you see it. The Ultra Two has one of the best reloading evolutions of any Nerf gun pistol I’ve used. Moreover, it’s also highly efficient and very effective.
The Ultra Two uses a 6 round open faced cylinder as a fed mechanism. What’s unique about this setup is that it loads from the back of the cylinder, instead of the front. No other Nerf gun pistol currently has this capability which is why it is so darn fun. Little effort is required and no additional components need to be opened. Moreover, it gives the gun a high reload speed rating which partners well with a semi-automatic delivery system.
In addition to this the Ultra Two is capable of rapid firing all 6 rounds at a moment’s notice. No priming the blaster in between shots, just make sure the acceleration trigger is suppressed.

THE BEST NERF GUN PISTOL REVOLVER
Found deep within the Zombie Strike series is a little gem called the Hammershot. It’s a revolver style Nerf handgun that consistently performs at the top of its category. This single-fire beauty has a long standing history of delivering exactly what it’s designed to do. Moreover, it’s not the fastest shooting Nerf gun and depending on the person holding it, not the most accurate either. Although, it is about as close as you can get to a revolver style Nerf gun and a sense of realism, with all the visual appeal to support it.
In addition to this is the overall experience. The Hammershot is best served with one in each hand, running around terrorizing your adversary in full dual wield fashion. There’s a realistic undertone that captures the imagination of the user and in some ways it’s an extension of their personality.
THE BEST NERF HANDGUN WITH A CLIP/MAGAZINE
There’s a lot of criticism surrounding the Phoenix CS-6. The scope is not adequate for its intended purpose or the gun is too bulky to be a pistol. Some even challenge whether or not to consider it a handgun style blaster at all. To all of this I say, yes. I won’t disagree with any of these points, although the debate is not whether or not the gun is flawless but whether it performs and fulfills its given purpose. Moreover, does it stand out as the best Nerf handgun to use with a clip fed system.
Stripe the scope and grab a couple of extra mags and you have the beginnings of something interesting. Not many other Nerf pistols can cycle as smoothly as the Phoenix CS-6 and deliver the same volume in a short amount of time. Although, it will require speedy reloads to achieve full potential.

THE BEST NERF GUN PISTOL IN A PRIMARY ROLE
Some would say it’s a bold move to use a handgun in a primary role. There are many reasons to make such an assertion, although for the Hyper Rush-40 it just seems natural. This Hyper blaster is arguably the top rated pick in the sidearm category. Not many pistol style Nerf guns will put 40 rounds at the ready, with a bit more on reserve. Moreover, it’s a stand alone blaster that was designed to keep you in the action and the heat on your opponent.
Furthermore, the Rush has a great mobility rating. It’s compact enough for tight spots and lightweight enough to keep you agile. In addition to this the gun has good ergonomics from the grip to the iron sight, tactical milling on the priming handle and some well placed tactical rails. It has the right features in the right places.
